500 MHz Data Transmission Cables

Giga-Ten Solution cables is a complete line of data-transmission horizontal and work area cables, designed for state-of-the-art cabling systems including Class EA of ISO/IEC 11801 and Cat. 6A of IEC 61156-5/6.

These cables are tested up to 650 MHz, and are fully compatible with the ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 61156-5, IEC 61156-6, and TIA/EIA 568C.

Cat. 6A cables come in the following designs:

  • U/FTP cables grounded, where high AXT, NEXT and FEXT attenuation values are achieved by individual pair shielding
  • U/FTP cables ungrounded, where high AXT, NEXT and FEXT attenuation values are achieved by individual pair shielding. These cables may be terminated with non-shielded connecting hardware with out any performance or EMC issues
  • F/FTP cables, where high AXT, NEXT and FEXT attenuation values are achieved by both overall and individual pair aluminium foil shields
  • S/FTP cables, where high AXT, NEXT and FEXT attenuation values are achieved by both overall copper braid and individual pair aluminium foil shields. This structure is recommended for PoE (Power over Ethernet) applications

Giga-Ten Cat. 6A Solution cables have Coupling Attenuation complying with Type II and Type I (depending on shield design) requirements per IEC 61156-5/6 therefore AXT performance is proven by design.

The cable’s high values of PS-ACR and PS-ELFEXT attenuation, and a stable 100 Ohm characteristic impedance ensuring very low Return-Loss, make it ideal for 1 and 10 GIGABIT-Ethernet applications.

All cables are available with a PVC or Flame Retardant Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen (FR-LSZH \ HFFR) jackets as well as other compounds, and in single or “Siamese twin” (FIG-8) constructions.

600 MHz Data Transmission Cables

The GIGA-DOR Solution is a complete line of high-performance Cat. 7 horizontal and work area data cables, designed for CLASS F links and for advanced high data-rate networks, available in a wide range of constructions.

GIGA-DOR Solution cables conform to the ISO/IEC 11801 requirements for Cat. 7 cables as specified in IEC 61156-5 and 61156-6. These cables are composed of balanced twisted pairs having a nominal 100 Ohm characteristic impedance up to 600 MHz, with a very high NEXT loss.

The high NEXT loss, achieved by individual aluminium foil pair shields, provides a typical margin of 60 dB ACR over U/UTP cables, making GIGA-Solution cables ideal for multiple high-frequency services.

GIGA-DOR & GIGA-DOR Jr. S/FTP horizontal cables and GIGA-Patch 4 pair S/FTP 26 AWG work area (patch) cables are overall shielded with a tin-coated copper braid. When properly grounded, this copper braid and the individual aluminium foil shields provide exceptional EMC performance, having a minimum coupling attenuation of 90 dB.

All cables are available with flame-retardant PVC or halogen-free (HFFR) jackets, in a range of colors, in single or “Siamese” twin (FIG-8) constructions.

1000 MHZ Data Transmission Cables

Giga-Ten Solution cables are a complete line of horizontal and work area data-transmission cables, designed for state-of-the-art cabling systems including IEEE 802.3ae, ISO/IEC 11801 otherwise known as 10 GBaseT.

These cables are tested up to 1200 MHz, and are fully compatible with the ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 61156-5, and IEC 61156-6 with the highest coupling attenuation level Type I, which makes the application to be defined as “Alien Crosstalk proven by design”.

Giga-Ten Solution cables come in S/FTP shielding structure where very high NEXT and FEXT values and outstanding EMC performance are achieved.

Giga-Ten Solution cables have Coupling Attenuation complying with Type I requirements as per IEC 61156 therefor the AXT requirements are achieved by design, and feature high values of PS-ACR and PS-ELFEXT attenuations together with a stable 100 Ohm characteristic impedance ensuring high Return-Loss attenuation, making them ideal for very high bandwidth applications as 10 GBase-T.

Giga-Ten horizontal and work area cables are compatible with shielded RJ45 connecting hardware, allowing use in variety of communication application including Video Over Ethernet and IEEE 802.3af (Power over Ethernet) and IEEE 802.3at (Power over Ethernet Plus).

The cables are available with a FR-PVC or Flame Retardant Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen (FR-LSZH \ HFFR) jacket and in single or “Siamese twin” (FIG-8) constructions.

Semi-Rigid Cable Assemblies

Rojone has been one of Australia’s leading Coaxial Cable assembly manufacturers for over 30 years. The arrival of our new CNC Bending machine has significantly increased our capability to produce volume, state-of-the-art semi-rigid cable assemblies and delay lines suitable for microwave, military, RF, and telecommunications applications to 18GHz.

Semi-rigid coax cable assemblies are typically used in ground and airborne radar systems, satellite and terrestrial wireless communications equipment, high bandwidth data communication equipment, medical imaging apparatus, test equipment, electronic warfare and to connect to microwave antennas.

As communications bandwidth and imaging resolution increase, higher frequencies, power handling & shielding are very important factors. These applications require excellent durability, phase stable performance, low attenuation, high signal fidelity and the ability to handle more power. Semi-rigid coax meets these requirements and is ideal for high temperature, high power applications while maintaining excellent phase stable performance and minimising VSWR. Semi rigid is especially significant in tactical environments where high shielding and shock or vibration tolerance is critical.

Rojone offers .047, .086, .141 and .250 inch diameter cables, bare copper, tin-plated copper and aluminum sheath which is 30% less weight than copper jacket, all terminated to high performance SMA, APC, N, BMA & more RF Coaxial connectors by IPC 620 Certified Technicians.

All assemblies are 100% tested; sweep testing is also available to ensure identical electrical properties for each assembly. We would also high recommend all cables are temperature cycled through our environmental chamber, depending on your specifications; this normalise the cable dielectric ensuring optimum performance and overall stability.

Hand forming semi-rigid assemblies is definitely a skill; only the most talented technicians are used to create these unique high performance assemblies. While this process is used by most small to medium production facilities, the technique is really only suitable & cost effective for low volume prototyping or production. With this in mind, Rojone decided that it was time to increase its capabilities & competitive edge by investing in CNC Automated equipment to produce volume, high performance Semi-Rigid Assemblies that are internationally price competitive.

Rojone’s new RD5 CNC Bender is impressive. It produces 3 axis bends fast, accurately and repeatably directly from customer’s CAD or STEP files, using the full range of qualified Mil-C17 semi-rigid coax cables.

The RD5 bends semi-rigid cable using a rotary wipe process. This technique has proven to be the gentlest bending technique on the semi-rigid cable providing for excellent signal transmission when the cable is in its final assembly. The collet closer that holds the coax during the bending process is designed specifically to grip yet be gentle on the cables outside jacket. The design of the carriage spindle allows the end of the coax cable to get right up next to the bend tooling on the very last bend. This often translates into avoiding a trimming operation after bending.

In addition to the CNC Bender, we also purchased an AM40 digital protractor designed to measure the bend angle of small tubing/semi-rigid coax & sheet metal. Its measuring range is from 0 to 360 degrees in increments of 0.1 degrees. It uses a high-resolution encoder to ensure the repeatability of the bend angle measurement. The digital readout, displayed in large numerals, updates continuously to show the real-time bend angle. This tool is ideal for measuring the first semi-rigid assembly run off the CNC, to ensure that the programming is spot on and more importantly to adjust the program to compensate for any spring back resulting from different cable batches.

Design guidelines for Semi-Rigid Assemblies:

  • Employ a single common bend radius.
  • Avoid the cable minimum bend radius for improved electrical performance.
  • Define cable assembly “ends” with respect to the connector reference plane in lieu of the physical end of the connector. In the case of right angle connectors, utilise the connector centre-line.
  • Avoid specifying specific vendor part numbers for connectors unless absolutely necessary.
  • Specify electrical performance testing only in bands of interest and only for critical performance tests. Excess electrical testing, while nice, also becomes expensive.
  • Where possible, do not design bends-on-bends. A design tool may allow this, but it often proves difficult to realise practically.
  • If designing a phase matched assembly, be sure to consider “forming areas”. These are “open” areas in the system that allow the “take-up of variations in cable length as a result of phase matching.
  • Specify thermal-conditioning only when necessary. Usually this is only needed for phase sensitive applications as this has a cost impact.

N Coaxial Connector Pin Depth Gauge

API-BFX010Originally designed by an Australian Telco, this simple to use tool checks the pin position in a N Coax connector. It has a resolution of 0.001 inches (1 thou) & accuracy of ±0.0002 inches.

The gauge is designed to measure male and female connectors without rezeroing. It checks correct shoulder position of the male & female N Pin, safeguarding against insufficient engagement or shoulder interference (causing splaying of the female fingers). These issues may result in unreliable Connector operation or serious damage to the mating equipment.

Suitable for US Mil Spec MIL-C-39012, MIL-STD-348 or IEC 169-16 Specifications.
